La Dolce Vita With Ferrari Roma

Bureau
  • A long drive in a car that makes the soul sing. That's the experience of getting behind the wheel of the Ferrari Roma

When the weather gets cooler in Oman, there are a number of activities that we enjoy. This could be anything from going on hikes, camping, picnics, bike rides, and car drives. Of course, we drive cars all the time, but the windows are up and the air con is high. When the weather dips, driving in the Sultanate gets more enjoyable. Roll down the windows or take down the top, blast the music, and soak up life as you drive down the beautiful roads. Bring home a Ferrari and the drive experience gets more thrilling.

The Luxury Bulletin recently had the pleasure of going on a drive with Ferrari and the Alfardan Team to Jebel Sifah, one of the iconic destinations in the country. Bring together Ferrari, a long drive, and lovely weather – what you have is an experience to remember. On our drive, we were provided with the Prancing Horse’s 296 GTB and the Ferrari Roma. The 296 GTB derives its name from the combination of the car’s total displacement (2.992 l) and the number of cylinders with the GTB (Gran Turismo Berlinetta). The Roma moniker is an ode to the carefree way of living the Romans enjoyed in the 1950s and ‘60s.

We at the magazine are believers of the La Dolce Vita philosophy, so it should come as no surprise that we are also great fans of the Ferrari Roma. The Prancing Horse’s Grand Tourer has been right on top of our preferred cars ever since its launch. So much so that we never really give up a chance to drive the Maranello beauty.

Ferrari has always been renowned for its iconic supercars that have long reigned on and off track. With the Roma, the Italian supercar marque shook things around a bit. The Roma, while having all the trademarks of a Ferrari, is a wonderful city car. The Roma brings unprecedented comfort and expediency to the badge that’s famed for supercars.

The Roma is boosted by a turbocharged 3.9 litre V8 that makes 612 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque. In the Roma, Ferrari marries luxury, speed, and comfort to deliver one of the best driving experiences. Lighter than Ferrari’s track-loving models, the Roma brings the sheer pleasure of drivability that the Italian manufacturer is known for. Driving down to Jebel Sifah between the picturesque mountains, the Roma lapped up every turn and curve with elan. The Ferrari Roma elevates the driving experience, be it in the city or on the outskirts, with its smooth handling, superb performance, and luxe comfort.
